In Memory Of J.P Young 1985-2006
Young Modz
Thank you for taking an interest in our club. The Young Modz club is a non-profit organization that takes part in regular competitive and fun events, organized by a small committee. The club was started in the Western Province on the 16 June 2007 in memory of a good friend that passed away in an unfortunate car accident.
Founding person is Nigel Thorpe. The rest of the committee consists of Chairman: Ricky Chittenden and Secretary: Samantha Olivier.
Like any other motor club around the world, the Young Modz Club is a club for motor enthusiasts. The club is made up of many different drivers, but has quite a few members who drive makes, such as Opel, BMW, Honda, KIA, VW & Toyota etc. Therefore you don't need a certain car to be a member, bakkies and motorcycles are also welcome. So you just need to love your car and enjoy meeting others who do too!!
Our goal is to create a social family for one and all that can grow and make a good name for ourselves, for one and all and for the cause that started us!
What every car enthusiast enjoys, is an opportunity to show his/her car off to the rest of the "not-so-fortunate" members of the public J There are many occasions where this can be accomplished and these events take place as often as twice a month. They include:
1. Breakfast runs around the peninsula,
2. Mystery Runs/Treasure Hunts
3. Taking part in the "Toy Run" or other charity events
4. Parking polished cars in an open area for public display
5. Displaying cars at regular Motor and Sound Shows etc
One of our main objectives is to enforce safe driving and to be considerate of other drivers on our roads. Most of us have a heavy right foot, so in order to vent some of our frustrations we encourage participation in some of the more aggressive and competitive events such as the Street 2 Strip events at Killarney Race Track. In this way we are also encouraging our members to stop street racing and promote safer and legal ways to push our cars.
These events take part in cordoned off, well controlled areas or private tracks, such as Killarney Race Track. These events not only teach drivers how to get to know their cars better but improve their skills behind the wheel and promote safety for all.
The committee would like to extend an open invitation to our members and the public, to communicate your feelings and opinions to us, at our monthly meetings or via letter, email or our forum. This is your club and you will only enjoy true satisfaction, if you become a participating member. It is very difficult to keep everybody happy, that is why we have a wide variety of events. Your suggestions will always be listened to and discussed.
We trust you will enjoy every minute of your membership and assist us in maintaining this club's excellent tradition.
